The atmosphere is sultry, the sky is threatening, you can see the familiar
outline of the Villa Roche Brune, and just about guess that the sea is
rough. A few angry-looking seabirds are struggling against the wind...
The
poster of the 16th British Film Festival sets the scene.
A set that is somewhat reminiscent of Baudelaire’s Spleen :
« When
the low, heavy sky weighs like a lid... ».
A set from Psycho,
a tribute to Alfred Hitchcock...
The picture was taken by Michel KOUMPANIETZ, a talented photo-enthusiast who is fond of Dinard, airplanes and birds. He likes to mention that this one was made without faking.
Beyond its artistic purpose, the poster sets the historical identity of our
town, and pays tribute to our long-running friendship with our English
neighbours.
In these days of grief and trials, such is our way to reaffirm
that the axis between Dinard and London does exist, and that we should run
up the colours of the Union Jack even higher.
