Good weather ...

... a starry sky, a town square which turned itself into a beach with a flurry of deckchairs and more than 900 people who came to applaud the launch of the 16th Dinard British Film Festival with an open air screening of "Love Actually" sponsored by our new partner CinéCinéma.

The financial dimension of the event can be measured by the way it is appreciated by private businesses, who are increasingly willing to support us.
Its professional credibility has taken on new strength through the organisation of a showcase with the British Council. Buyers from many countries, festival directors, distributors etc., will be coming to do their shopping in Dinard this year.

And this 16th edition won't fail to satisfy them since it promises so much with its programme of previews, by the particular choice of tributes (Neil Jordan, Nicolas Roeg), and through the discovery of first feature films. Questions raised by British society are piercing on screen: racism, integration, terrorism, tolerance, violence or the difficulty of self acceptance - we are shown a country which has doubts and looks towards the future.

But the answers are also to be found on the screen and often bring happy endings.
How could it be otherwise with British film-makers?
